Mentorship
I offer group mentorship for intermediate level ceramic artists seeking to discover and hone their own visual identity. My aim is to patiently encourage each participant to delve into their own
“well of meaning” for content distilling a personal visual language and to effectively convey the intent of their work with ceramic techniques and formal design tools. Talent is 99% work.
You just need a clear path.
We will:
-
Approach the work with purpose and clarity
-
Look at the work with curiosity and kindness
-
Winnow away distraction in search of a clear creative voice
-
Learn valuable constructive critique habits
-
Identify the source of ideas
-
Synthesize your deep interests into ideas
-
Develop repeatable methods to distill content
-
Become familiar with design tools (form, weight, line, colour, rhythm, etc.)
-
Have fun, build bonds and make work
This mentorship is ideal for a small group of 8 to 10 participants, meeting in person, for 8 full day sessions over one year. Also included will be one-on-one WhatsApp calls if needed and an ongoing WhatsApp group chat. This is a perfect setting for sharing supportive ideas and constructive critique. This process helps to accelerate the distillation of each artist's voice. I provide a structured method, an inviting atmosphere and thoughtful guidance. A group mentorship may be the perfect catalyst for you to set out on new creative goals. Contact me below if your group is interested in this process. I'd be honoured to work with you.

“The mentorship under Andrea’s expert guidance was a challenging source of excellent inspiration and motivation.
I frequently speak at various education conferences here and, in the states, and at every one I tell how the mentorship was influential in helping me find my voice. I really do hear her asking every time I make a piece, if every part speaks the same language, and have I gathered and analyzed my inspirations for that work.
Andrea challenged me to articulate what and why I do what I do.”
